OH BOY OH BOY!

Worst... cold... EVER! That's right, I've had a ridiculously bad cold for the past week and a half. It started off as a very sore throat, which then moved to my sinus' and was quite painful. It made sleep almost impossible, and by mid-last week I was a zombie. I thought it was starting to pass on Thursday last week, only to have it wind back up as sneezing, runny nose, chest cough, etc... and sleep was still missing from the "get better" equation. I suffered through the weekend, feeling completely zoned out and sick, and was still reeling from it on Monday this week. So finally, on Tuesday, I could actually form a coherent line of thought and managed to get some work done for the first time in a week. As the last two days have passed I've started to feel more and more alive, and last night, for the first night in a week and change, I had a good night sleep! I was still tired, but I wasn't exhausted when I woke up, which felt rather refreshing. Now other than the massive tonnes of snot that I keep spewing from my nasal cavity, I'm doing pretty good.

So alot has happened in the past couple of weeks, despite my being sick. Where to start... oh! I'm a murderer... ... ... (I'll just leave a few more moments of silence to let that one sink in for dramatic effect) ... ... ... there, that's good. Yup, it's true, I'm a cold blooded killer. I'm a walking, talking, horticultural nightmare! If you're a flower of any sort, you'd best watch your step, cuz it's more than likely that I'll "buss' a cap in yo' ass". At this point you're probably slightly more than confused, let me clear things up a bit. Two weeks ago and change, we had a beautiful weekend of sunshine. Well, it's that time of the year where as home owners, Linds and I clean up our yard and gardens, getting ready for the spring. Anyone who has a lawn knows that this time of year is crucial for applying some sort of weed killer and fertilizer to ensure that their front yard avoids turning into that kid in highschool who had pimples, on pimples, on white heads... ... that's always grosses me out, as does having a lawn covered in weeds of all variety. Last year I bought this amazing stuff that you spray on the lawn called "Killex" from Crappy Tire. It worked wonders. So I went and snatched some more for this season. So there I am spraying the lawn, when I looked at our front garden and see some weeds. So my thought process is, "this stuff is supposed to kill weeds, AND has a fertilizer that I imagine will only help our garden". I'd like to point out at this point that as a man, we think in terms of efficiency ALL the time, and this seemed fairly efficient... though clearly I was mistaken. After seeing the weeds die in the garden, I was quite proud of my ingenuity... this changed quite quickly as our beautiful tulips started to droop quite sadly. They are now a shriveled up mess, and a few other flowers have also faced the same demise. Ah well... lesson learned? I'll leave that up to the jury, *ahem-Lindsay*.

The other big thing on the docket is our company, Alectro Systems Inc., is now officially moving to a commercial unit over by Winston Churchill and the QEW. This decision came about after processing thoughts on the future direction of the company. The owner is looking to retire in five years and, since we fully operate from his basement and garage, it became clear that we would have to look into moving to our own location in the not so distant future. As a custom design company for large venue audio and video systems, we don't have a giant stock, and thus the company has been able to operate from his place for twenty-three years. The executives examined location options and even went to look at some to get an idea for the future. During this process, totally unintentionally, we ended up finding this perfect location which we all agreed we'd be unwise to pass up. Business has been very strong over the past couple of years, and shows no slowing at the moment, so it has allowed us the breathing room necessary for this venture. We're all pretty excited, as this place is totally perfect. We get the place in June I think, or beginning of July. Linds and I thought heavily about this decision, since we'll be the primary owners of the company once her Dad retires, so we considered purchasing a new huge house in Burlington and running it from our basement. That option was the front runner until we found this place, which is too good to pass up, and it's in Mississauga, which is actually more central for our client base, which ranges from Oshawa down the Fort Erie. Anywho, cool stuff.

It's a good thing I'm feeling better now, cuz we've got quite the weekend ahead, which kinda starts tonight. Linds and I are having two of the awesome-est couples over to our place tonight for dinner and goodtimes. Both couples are from out of province and so we don't exactly get to see them regularly, which is sad cuz they're awesome, did I mention they're awesome? They also have two relatively fresh babies that are SO cute. We've got a sick dinner planned for tonight in their honour (sick in the good way). I doubt they'll have time to read this before they come, so I can say what's on the menu :-) We're making pork tenderloin that has been marinating for the last day in a wicked kentucky bourbon based sauce, with Linds' scalloped 'taters which are my personal fav, and some veggies. We got white chocolate macadamian nut cookies for dessert type food. Should be great. Then on Friday night, Linds and I head up to Sault St. Marie, for what is becoming our annual visit to Amy and Joel, another two of the awesome-est people we know. We're staying up there for the weekend where I'm gonna help install a home theatre for them. They have a projector and stuff, and we're bringing up a screen that we helped buy for them cause we love them so much. It helps that we get this stuff for cost. So together with some home theatre speaker wire that I have left over from doing my basement, and some other goodies, we'll be getting everything set-up, which is actually fun and I'm looking forward to it. Then we get back on Monday and have the season finale of Heroes to look forward to. Yup, it's gonna be a sweet weekend.

Final Confession for the Day: I think Puff's with lotion tissues are the greatest achievement that mankind has EVER made. Screw super computers, aerodynamics, deep fried mars bars (which are actually a close second), and other amazing inventions. This is something that brings a whole new level of comfort to those afflicted with the common cold or allergies as they have literally combined tissues WITH lotion to moisten as you blow! For my money, it simply doesn't get any better than this. Also when you have a case of dry skin and can't find some lotion, WHAMMO! you can just rub tissues all over your face! Goodtimes...
