THE LIVING DEAD...

Ugh... that's what I've felt like for the past two months: the living dead. I've had two of the busiest months of my life (hence the sudden lack of posts), and have really been feeling the stress of it all over the past three weeks. Last week was the cherry on top, as I suddenly came down with a horrible cold but couldn't afford to stay home and lose necessary time keeping work progressing on a few fronts. Today is the first day in two months that I'm starting to feel less stressed out. Here's the main story:

Last year a big client came my way, wanting a full audio, video, and lighting system for a new church building. This was my first new building quote, and as such I was very excited about it. I put a tonne of work into it, met with the clients on a few occasions, and came up with an excellent system to fit their vision. They chose us to work with them for a few reasons that were quite flattering towards myself, as they basically chose us because they trusted me the most - despite the fact that apparently my quote was actually the most expensive amongst our competitors. So the install date began in June, and we're just wrapping up the install now. There were a few weeks in between that we weren't on site, so our timeline has been quite good. Here's where it gets stressful though. Due to complexity of my vision and quote for their system, it was necessary for me to be on-site most of the time to make sure everything was done the right way. The problem is that I also had to balance doing all of the sales as well. This would have been easier had the Owner of the company been around, but he took a month an change off work to go on holidays (which he fully deserves). So I had no one to fall back on during this time, and the topper has been that almost every weekend this summer has been SUPER busy. So yeah, I'm pretty sure I've prematurely aged about five years in the past two months... ugh...

The good news now though is that the job is pretty much finished, and the owner is back from holidays. Things are now slowly going back to status quo, and I have some time off coming. Also, I went camping for the long weekend past, which has really helped ease the burden of stress from the past two months. Getting away from everything is a great release, though I'm exhausted from lack of sleep, lol.

So quite a bit has happened in the past two months, though I really don't have the time to post to much more. Sufficed to say it's been busy with weddings, work, landscaping my frontyard with my Dad, and a few other things. I'm really looking forward to taking a week off this month to travel up to Thunder Bay to see some of my relatives there. It'll be nice to completely remove myself from the work mode.

I think one of the sanity-saving items in my life this past two months has been the addition of an LCD projector and screen that we've setup in our basement. It's awesome! We've been watching a ton of movies on it and playing XBOX and what not, and it's the biggest stress reliever ever right now. XBOX in HD is incredible! I really desperately want a Blue-Ray player now though... but that won't happen for a LONG time, and rightfully so. We have other important expenditures on the horizon that will leave us with a nice chunk of debt to play with over the next year, but it's all budgeted for so it's not too bad. What's the expenditure you ask? Why it's none other then our planned trip to EUROPE!!!! AAAAAHHH! I'm getting super excited again, and have had some great comments on our trip page on Yahoo.com. In another two or three months we can start doing some actual purchasing and prep work for the trip, which has me all giddy inside.

I haven't had much time for cooking lately, and as such we been eating very poorly the past month and a half or so. Ah well. I can't wait to have more time again to get back to that passion, as I really do love it now.

That's it for now. Hopefully I'll post more later this week on our camping trip we just had, as I've got a few stories on that one that are real doosies. Cheers y'all!
