Wow, what a month! The first half of December seems like such a blur now that it's over. Christmas was very nice, especially with Lindsay. We've made a tradition of doing our presents for each other on Christmas Eve, and this year made traditional Swiss cheese fondue for the second year running. I think we might end up doing that for dinner now most Christmas Eve's as another little tradition... we'll see. Anywho, I'd been excited to give Lindsay an ITouch for Christmas, so it was awesome to see how much she's loved it, and played with it since. She got me an awesome Argyle Cardigan, and a sweet electric shaver. She feels as though her gifts were lame, but they weren't at all, I've been dying to have an electric shaver for over three years now, so this was awesome for me.
Christmas day brought more fun and family, as we did our split Christmas day between mine and Lindsay's family for the last time this year. As we're getting older, and people's lives are becoming more hectic, we figured we should start doing Christmas day with one family one year, and the other family the following year (and so on and so forth). I got a ton of cookbooks, which was awesome since I've been doing so much fine cooking (check out facebook for updated photo's on new dishes I've made), as well as a few travel related gifts like clothes and a power converter adapter. Lindsay got some similar gifts as well.
We did a bunch of family stuff after Christmas as well this year, with a dinner at my Aunt and Uncles on Boxing Day, and another dinner with Lindsay extended family on the 28th. Alot of food has been consumed in the past seven days, lol. My brother has been home since the 2oth, and it's been great hanging out with him. He stayed over at my place on the 29th, and together we made a feast. I made a starter of pan-seared scallops with a mushroom whiskey sauce, and a dessert of baguette and butter pudding (both of which were excellent), and my bro took the main course with a herb crusted rack of lamb with provencal couregettes (zuchinni). I love that me and my bro both love cooking and are pretty damn good at it. My culinary skills were further put to the test on New Years Eve when I made a roast leg of lamb with veggies for Lindsay and I. Man I love food.
New Years Eve was fun, we had dinner and then went over to my parents house for one last shindig there before they moved. It seemed appropriate to ring in the new year one more time at the house I grew up in. Strangely enough, I haven't been super nostalgic about my parents move. I think I just appreciate the benefits of their downsizing and the fact that they're gonna be a seven minute drive away now. It's gonna be sweet having them so close by!
Well, it's getting late, and I have to work tomorrow... boooo... so I'm not going to get into the TWO MONTHS to go part of my post until tomorrow perhaps, but yeah... TWO MORE FREAKIN' MONTHS TILL EUROPE '09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!
